Precision Weighing for Smarter Beverage and Gas Management

In today’s beverage and gas industries, accurate weight monitoring is essential for safety, production efficiency, and cost control. Whether it’s tracking beer levels in kegs, managing gas in LPG cylinders, or measuring beverage barrels during filling, the right weighing technology ensures smooth, intelligent operations.

Amowellsensor provides a complete range of load cells and weighing transmitters tailored for these applications. Our solutions combine precision, durability, and digital connectivity, enabling smart factories, breweries, and distribution centers to work more efficiently and safely.

Versatile Load Cell Designs for Different Applications

Every weighing environment requires a unique load cell sensor design. Amowellsensor offers multiple load cell shapes and structures to meet various installation and accuracy needs.

Micro Thin-Profile Load Cells (AM21A Model)

These ultra-compact load cells are ideal when space is tight—such as underneath a slim keg tray or portable keg stand. They provide high sensitivity and fast response, suitable for measuring small changes in liquid content in kegs or smaller barrels. The thin form factor means minimal intrusion into existing platforms, making retrofit easier.

Parallel Beam Aluminum Load Cells (AP61A Model)

For medium‐sized kegs and barrels, parallel-beam load cell sensors (for example a model with mounting bracket and tray) provide stable, accurate measurements under dynamic loads (filling, emptying, repositioning). aluminium alloy offers a good strength-to-weight ratio and is cost-effective for multi–point installations where many kegs or barrels are weighed simultaneously.

Case Study: Amowellsensor Load Cell Solution for Keg Scale Systems

Overview

A well-known craft brewery in Europe needed an accurate and durable keg weighing system to monitor beer volume in real time. Their goal was to reduce manual checking, improve inventory management, and prevent overfilling or underfilling during production and distribution.

To achieve this, the brewery partnered with Amowellsensor to integrate our high-precision load cell solutions into their customized keg scale platform.

Challenges

Before using Amowellsensor load cells, the brewery faced several issues:

  • Inconsistent readings: Traditional mechanical scales could not provide stable readings due to vibration and temperature fluctuations.
  • Difficult installation: Space under the keg racks was limited, making it hard to integrate large sensors.
  • Maintenance downtime: Frequent recalibration and wear of mechanical components interrupted production.

The customer needed a compact, precise, and reliable weighing solution that could perform accurately under varying environmental conditions such as moisture, vibration, and temperature changes.

Amowellsensor Solution

After evaluation, Amowellsensor recommended the AP61A aluminum parallel beam load cell with aluminum frame.
Key features of the solution included:

  • High accuracy and repeatability — With a rated output of 2.0 mV/V and excellent linearity, each load cell provided stable weight data for kegs ranging from 20 L to 50 L.
  • Compact structure — The slim aluminum design allowed easy installation beneath each keg position, even in tight rack spaces.
  • Corrosion-resistant coating — Designed for wet brewery environments, the load cell maintained long-term performance under high humidity.
  • Digital signal conversion — Combined with the AWCM-12 multi-channel Modbus RTU transmitter, multiple load cells could be connected simultaneously to provide centralized data acquisition.

System Integration

Each keg platform was equipped with one load cell connected to the AWCM-12 transmitter.
The transmitter communicated real-time weight data via RS485 Modbus RTU to the brewery’s control system, which displayed:

  • Current keg weight
  • Estimated remaining beer volume
  • Automatic alerts for low level or full capacity

This digital setup enabled continuous, remote monitoring without manual intervention

Results and Benefits

After integrating the Amowellsensor solution, the customer achieved:

  • ±0.02% accuracy, ensuring precise filling and improved quality control.
  • 30% reduction in manual checking time, as the system automatically tracked each keg’s status.
  • Improved efficiency in production and logistics through real-time inventory data.
  • Reduced maintenance costs, thanks to stable electronic measurement and corrosion-resistant materials.

The brewery reported smooth system performance even after months of heavy use and extended the solution to its other production lines.

Customer Feedback

“Amowellsensor provided exactly what we needed — reliable, compact sensors that deliver consistent results. The integration was straightforward, and the real-time data has improved our keg management dramatically.”

Conclusion

This case demonstrates how Amowellsensor’s load cell technology helps breweries and beverage companies build smart keg weighing systems that are efficient, accurate, and durable.
Whether for production monitoring, warehouse management, or distribution control, our weighing solutions can be customized to meet diverse industrial requirements.
